Kari Birdseye is a member of the Benicia City Council, elected in 2022. She is Regional Media Director at the Natural Resources Defense Council and a former CNN journalist whose team earned an Emmy for coverage of the 1996 Olympic Park bombing. She holds a B.A. in journalism and an M.S. in environmental management from the University of San Francisco. She began serving in city government in 2012 on the Benicia Human Services Board and most recently chaired the Planning Commission.
