Ericka Lesley experienced homelessness while raising three sons and worked as a Lyft and Uber driver. She is a member and was chair of the Santa Monica Rent Control Board, reported in 2024 as its first Black woman chair, and served four years on the board of Downtown Santa Monica, Inc.
