Paige Cognetti

Paige Cognetti is the Mayor of Scranton. Before becoming mayor, she worked with the Pennsylvania Auditor General's office investigating corruption and working on nursing home safety, and served on the Scranton School Board. She was first elected mayor in 2019 running as an independent, and won reelection in 2021 with more than 71% of the vote. As mayor, she eliminated a city car and cash payments, and led Scranton from junk-bond status to an investment-grade credit rating. She has secured more than $155 million in federal and state grants and, in 2022, led the city out of a 30-year distressed financial status.
