Positions in brief
Becker focuses on managing state-mandated housing development while preserving neighborhood character, and on supporting affordable clean-energy options for residents.
Becker has said the most important issue facing Solana Beach is the challenge state development mandates pose to local control, since they can significantly change the character of established neighborhoods. She supports building affordable housing in places compatible with the city and where infrastructure can support it, describing her approach as 'sustainable progress' that keeps land-use decisions focused on residents' quality of life. On the environment, she has highlighted community programs such as a Solar Plus Program that lets homeowners add solar panels and battery storage without a large upfront cost, as a way to expand access to clean energy.
