Ben Diederich
Candidate for City Council Member, Menifee, District 2
Ben Diederich grew up in the Menifee area and attended Mt. San Jacinto College before leaving for college and law school. He returned home and established a small law practice that has operated locally for more than a decade. He spent six years on the Menifee Planning Commission and, after running unsuccessfully for the District 2 council seat in 2022, was appointed to fill the seat's vacancy in January 2025.
Positions in brief
Diederich's priorities include completing Menifee's amphitheater and expanding recreation, requiring new development to help fund infrastructure improvements, and evaluating warehouse proposals case-by-case rather than opposing them outright.
Diederich wants to complete the city's amphitheater and add recreational amenities, including a regional park, so residents don't have to leave Menifee for entertainment. He acknowledges that development has outpaced infrastructure and says his approach is to prioritize projects, pursue state and federal funding, and require new development to contribute to infrastructure improvements; he points to the city acquiring nearly 400 acres of public open space as one result. On warehouses, he says he evaluates each proposal individually based on location, land use, environmental impact, nearby homes, and infrastructure benefits rather than voting for or against them as a category. He supports the Menifee Police Department's use of Flock license-plate reader cameras as a public-safety tool as long as safeguards remain in place, and says he would reconsider that support if safeguards changed or the technology were misused.
