Nastassya Saad

Candidate for City Council (At-Large), Sausalito

Nastassya Saad is a lifelong Sausalito resident who earned a degree in politics from UC Santa Cruz. She began volunteering with the city's Parks and Recreation department at age 8 and received Sausalito's Lifetime Volunteer Award as a teenager. She worked at 15 different local Sausalito businesses growing up. She has served on Sausalito's Historic Preservation Commission and has spent six years on the Planning Commission, chairing it for the past two years. If elected, she would be the only lifelong Sausalito resident on the City Council.

Positions in brief

Saad's platform emphasizes conservative, thoughtful growth that meets the city's legal housing obligations without overdevelopment, paired with fiscal responsibility, historic preservation, and environmental stewardship.

Saad says Sausalito deserves leadership focused on conservative, thoughtful growth, fiscal responsibility, historic preservation, environmental stewardship, and protecting the community from overdevelopment while responsibly meeting its legal housing obligations. As Planning Commission chair, she says her work over more than ten meetings helped Sausalito become the first town in Marin County to get its sixth-cycle Housing Element certified by the state on time, identifying a surplus of housing sites through community outreach while protecting the Marinship working waterfront. She describes her approach as leading with integrity and letting the facts drive decisions, favoring thoughtful consideration of every perspective and balanced decision-making over political agendas.
