She was commissioned as a Navy JAG officer during her final week of law school at UMKC and was first assigned to Naval Station Treasure Island, later practicing law with the JAG Corps in postings around the world; she continues to serve with the Naval Reserve JAG. Hoffman first won a Sausalito City Council seat in 2014 as a political outsider, defeating an incumbent, and has since been elected to three four-year terms. She has served as Sausalito's mayor in 2016 and 2021 and as vice mayor in 2015. She now runs Qorkz Wine, an e-commerce platform connecting wine lovers with a network of small producers.
Positions in brief
Hoffman's platform centers on fiscal responsibility, including opposition to a higher sales tax and growing pension debt, limiting high-density development and the growth of rental bikes and tour buses, and preserving Sausalito's small-town, walkable character.
Hoffman has said she opposes an increased sales tax and further growth of the city's pension debt, citing fiscal responsibility as a top priority, and lists public safety among the city's pressing issues. On development, she opposes high-density housing and the reconfiguration of the waterfront and ferry landing into what she has called a 'transit hub' for Southern Marin, warning against uncontrolled growth in rental bikes and tour buses. She says she wants to preserve Sausalito's independent spirit and small-town character, envisioning a walkable community with vibrant, independent, locally owned businesses, artists and maritime services, and says she wants residents to have a voice at City Hall.
