Mike Little
Candidate for City Council Member, Novato, District 2
Mike Little grew up in foster care in Novato, attending Hill Middle School and Novato High School, and is now a foster parent himself. He has spent 15 years in the electric utility industry as a Distribution Design Engineer, designing and engineering high-voltage electrical systems, and serves as a shop steward for Engineers and Scientists of California, Local 20, representing his coworkers.
Positions in brief
Little's priorities include making sure Measure M sales-tax revenue is spent as voters intended on streets, 911 staffing, parks and wildfire prevention, fixing roads, increasing transparency at City Hall, and pursuing state and federal grants for mental health and homelessness services.
Little wants to make sure Measure M's three-quarter-cent sales tax, worth about $10.3 million a year and designated for streets, 911 staffing, parks and wildfire prevention, is spent exactly as voters approved. He says his engineering background can help the city address street infrastructure systematically rather than through rhetoric alone. He wants more transparency and accountability around city finances and decisions, pointing to the 2025 city worker strike followed by a council pay increase as a concern, and he wants the city to pursue available state and federal grants for mental health services and homelessness prevention. His campaign theme is that 'the city made promises about your money — and somebody should make sure it keeps them.'
