James D. Hooper
Candidate for U.S. Representative, Michigan Congressional District 12
Hooper grew up on Detroit's east side and worked for years at Eastern Market before moving into the building trades. He later served overseas with Samaritan's Purse in Liberia, leading a team rebuilding the African Bible College University and managing a water, sanitation, and hygiene program in a remote border area. He also worked with the Billy Graham Evangelistic Association to help bring a Franklin Graham festival to Liberia. After returning from the mission field, he served as his mother's full-time caregiver as she lived with Alzheimer's disease until her death.
