Positions in brief
Escobar's public 2026 campaign material centers on his professional background in banking, customs brokerage and business education rather than a detailed platform of issue positions; he did not respond to a regional news outlet's questions on major county issues ahead of the primary.
Escobar built his career in banking and international trade, spending 16 years as a bank manager before becoming a licensed customs broker in 2000 and later founding a C-TPAT-certified customs brokerage firm operating in Calexico and San Diego. He has also taught business and finance at Imperial Valley College and San Diego State University. Before his 2018 election to the Board of Supervisors, he served on the Calexico City Council. According to a KPBS survey of District 1 candidates ahead of the June 2026 primary, Escobar did not respond to questions or outline specific priorities on housing, public safety, health care, air quality or immigration-detention oversight, so no sourced 2026 policy positions are available for this profile.
