Jared Moskowitz currently represents Florida's 23rd Congressional District in the U.S. House and is running for reelection in the redrawn 25th District in 2026. He sits on the House Judiciary and Foreign Affairs committees and is ranking member of the Foreign Affairs Subcommittee on Oversight & Intelligence. He was elected to the Parkland City Commission while attending law school and to the Florida Legislature in 2012. After 17 people were killed in the mass shooting at his alma mater, Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School, he worked as a state representative with victims' families and lawmakers of both parties on legislation that raised the minimum age to buy guns from 18 to 21 and created red flag laws, and he championed the Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School Public Safety Act. In 2019, Gov. Ron DeSantis appointed him Florida Director of Emergency Management, a role in which he oversaw the state's response to the COVID-19 pandemic and Hurricane Michael. His most recent role before Congress was Broward County Commissioner.
