Genevieve Serna
Candidate for City Council (At-Large), Arcata
Genevieve Serna is an administrative analyst who came to Arcata in 2014 to attend Humboldt State University, where she earned a Bachelor of Science degree. She has since built her life in the city and chairs Arcata's Transportation Safety Committee, where she has worked with city staff and community members to advance street-safety projects.
Serna's stated priorities are expanding housing opportunities so people of all incomes can afford to live in Arcata, improving street safety through investment in active transportation, and enhancing neighborhood livability for current and future residents. On her campaign website, she pledges to prioritize affordable housing solutions to address what she calls an ongoing housing crisis, and to advocate for safer street design for a greener, more livable city. She points to her role as Chair of Arcata's Transportation Safety Committee as hands-on experience working with city staff and the community on transportation-safety solutions.
