Thomas Fuhrman
Candidate for City Council Member, Menifee, District 2
Tom Fuhrman is a retired tool and die specialist who has lived in Menifee for 36 years, including in the Scott Road area of District 2. He previously served on the Menifee City Council from 2010 to 2014. In 2014, while a council member, he was arrested on a conflict-of-interest charge; he pleaded guilty, served one year of probation and 100 hours of community service, and the resulting offense was later expunged.
Fuhrman says District 2 areas like Quail Valley and Scott Road have not gotten the same attention as the rest of the city, pointing to dirt roads throughout the district and traffic at Holland and Murrieta roads, and he supports widening Murrieta Road to four lanes up to Scott Road. He opposes warehouse development near residential areas. On spending, he has criticized the city's amphitheater investment and questioned why Menifee continues to rent rather than build a permanent City Hall. He has proposed selecting 25 random District 2 residents to gather input before council meetings. On Flock license-plate-reader technology, he says he has mixed feelings and wants more research before taking a firm position.
