Candidate for Court of Appeal Justice, California Court of Appeal, Third Appellate District, Seat 6
Stacy E. Boulware Eurie has served as an Associate Justice of the California Court of Appeal, Third Appellate District, since August 2022. Her name is officially spelled Stacy, though the state roster spells it Stacey. She earned her bachelor's degree from UCLA. She earned her J.D. from the UC Davis School of Law in 1995. She worked as an associate at a Sacramento firm called Rothschild, Wishek & Sands LLP, from 1996 to 2000. She then served in the California Attorney General's Office, from 2000 to 2006. There, she rose to be Senior Assistant Attorney General. In that job, she led the statewide Government Law Section. She also served as counsel to the state's constitutional officers. She then spent about fifteen years as a trial judge on the Sacramento Superior Court. She presided over civil, criminal, and appellate matters. She served as Presiding Judge of the court's Juvenile Court, from 2010 to 2018. Her judicial honors include being named Judge of the Year in 2020, by the Sacramento County Bar Association. She was also named Judge of the Year in 2015, by the Chief Probation Officers of California. And she was named Juvenile Court Judge of the Year in 2014, by the California Judges Association. Gov. Gavin Newsom made known her nomination to the Third District on July 1, 2022. The Commission on Judicial Appointments confirmed her, with no votes against, in early August 2022. Her appointment came before that year's general election. So voters confirmed her at the November 8, 2022 election, with 679,624 yes votes (64.1 percent) in the Third District. That vote covered the rest of the term of the seat, a term that ends at the start of January 2027. On November 3, 2026, she again faces a nonpartisan retention vote. No opponent appears on the ballot. This vote will decide if she stays in office for a new term.
