Corey G. LeeIncumbent

Candidate for Court of Appeal Justice, California Court of Appeal, Fourth Appellate District, Division 2, Seat 5

Corey G. Lee is an Associate Justice of the California Court of Appeal. She sits on the Fourth Appellate District, Division Two, in Riverside. That court hears appeals from Inland Empire counties. She earned her Juris Doctor from Loyola Law School. Her undergraduate institution is not confirmed in available sources. Lee built her career as a prosecutor. She was a Deputy District Attorney in Riverside County. That was from 2004 to 2007. She then held the same role in San Bernardino County. That was from 2007 to 2008. From 2008 to 2015 she was an Assistant U.S. Attorney. She worked in the Central District of California. She rose to Deputy Chief of that office's Riverside branch. Her work there focused on gang racketeering, drug conspiracies, and fraud. This was in the Inland Empire. Governor Edmund G. 'Jerry' Brown Jr. appointed her to the bench. That was the San Bernardino County Superior Court, in 2015. She served as a trial judge there for a decade. On August 7, 2025, Governor Gavin Newsom nominated her to the Court of Appeal. The State Bar's Commission on Judicial Nominees Evaluation rated her 'exceptionally well qualified.' The Commission on Judicial Appointments confirmed her unanimously. That was in November 2025. She took the oath of office on November 17, 2025. Appellate appointees must be confirmed by voters. This happens at the next general election. So Lee appears on the November 3, 2026 ballot. It is a nonpartisan yes/no retention vote. No opponent runs. A majority 'yes' vote retains her in office.
