Marjorie Morgenstern was born in the San Francisco Bay Area and raised in San Rafael, California. She attended College of Marin and the California College of Arts and Crafts. She designed clothing and jewelry that she imported from Bali, Indonesia to the United States and Mexico, and worked as a set decorator and manager in the film and television industry. Positions in brief
Morgenstern has opposed cutting council-member pay, arguing it would make city government accessible only to the wealthy or retired.
When the council considered cutting its own compensation by two-thirds, Morgenstern voted against the reduction, warning that lower pay would price out working-class residents and young professionals from serving on the council.
