Kimberly Kern
Candidate for City Council (At-Large), Cloverdale · Public School Superintendent
Kimberly Kern is the superintendent of the Pope Valley Union Elementary School District (TK-8). She previously served as Deputy County Superintendent at the Mendocino County Office of Education, supporting 12 districts along with county schools and charter and private schools, and has also worked as a teacher, assistant principal, and principal. Her education includes a master's degree in curriculum and instruction, a Stanford EdLEADers professional certificate, and an EdD in progress at Johns Hopkins University. In her leadership roles she says she has led schools through wildfire threats, managed complex projects, built transparent planning processes, and overseen large-scale operational and technology improvements.
Kern says growth in Cloverdale 'must be guided by community values, clear information, careful review, and a process residents can trust,' and that she would bring 'responsible stewardship of our infrastructure and tax dollars' to the council. She points to her professional background managing school budgets, safety planning, and large capital and technology projects as relevant experience for the role, and says Cloverdale deserves 'steady, practical leadership that respects diversity, listens across differences, asks hard questions, and makes decisions that stand up over time.'
